famiglia di Agatina che è l'io narrante.
In questo piacevole romanzo sembra girare tutto
intorno alle minne che, se sane, fanno la felicità
di mariti appassionati, se invece malate, sono
ovviamente cattivo presagio, di sventura e morte.
Anche in questo romanzo si respirano i profumi
e la carnalità di una Sicilia da sempre caratterizzata
da mille contraddizioni.

As I mentioned a few posts ago.
The trip was wonderful and I had the opportunity to visit
also Procida, Capri, Amalfi and Positano. From the point of view
edible, the kitchen island is great and I ate a lot of fish

Torniamo ai nostri libri.....

Il libro della settimana è "La stanza delle Spezie"
di Frances Osborne edito da Sperling Paperback.
La scrittrice è la pronipote di Lilla, la protagonista
del romanzo.
Dopo innumerevoli ricerche e interviste ai parenti,
la Osborne ricostruisce la vita di questa sua
bisnonna tanto speciale.
Tutto inizia dall'Imperial War Museum di Londra
dove è conservato  il libro di ricette di Lilla.
Il romanzo è un' intricatissima saga famigliare
dove si susseguono avvenimenti felici e non.
Lilla ha una sorella gemella e il legame con lei resterà
sempre molto forte, si separeranno e riavvicineranno
nel corso della loro lunga vita.
Lilla, nata  in Cina, legatissima a questo paese dovrà
più volte cambiare sede per via della carriera militare
del marito.
Raccontarvi tutta la trama diventerebbe troppo lungo
e ingiusto perchè vi toglierebbe la sorpresa. Io mi voglio
soffermare sul ruolo che la cucina ha avuto nella vita di
Lilla e forse anche di molte altre donne.
La cucina è passione e diventa un modo

In this book there are often dramatic, hard
impressive, but really worth reading
for transmitting the force, the force of life that
takes many forms and has won everything and everyone.
